‘At Manly Health Foods we love to chat, we are here to listen, we will engage you, and our aim is to guide you towards optimum health.’

Manly Health Foods is now in its 16th year of business under owner / operator Emeli Cassell, who is a qualified naturopath and nutritionist. Emeli’s passion for health is evident as soon as you meet her.

“I love the fact that Manly Health Foods represents health at it’s best, have a look at my team, they glow! We are a varied group of personalities with an open door policy to health and ill-health, we welcome everyone, and we offer qualified advice with a keen interest in health and well being.

I learn constantly from my staff and my customers, the challenges and ideas I’m presented with daily push me further to investigate what I understand the boundaries and benefits of health to be. We share experiences and pass knowledge between us everyday. Being surrounded by like minded peers, employees and friends is the perfect job.

After 16 years in this space I am immensely proud of how far we have come. We regularly get compliments on the store, on our variety of products, the store layout and of course the professional, yet personal service.

I’ve been involved in health for 20 plus years and if you asked me what else I would do…”

“I wouldn’t do anything else.”

Emeli Cassell: Owner, aka Boss Lady, Naturopath, Nutritionist, Herbal medicine

My passion for health began in my early teens when I met a naturopath / homeopath couple, who had such a positive impact on my physical health, mindset and wellbeing, that I I knew instantly what I wanted to be ‘when I grew up’.

Determined to start my career in ‘health’ immediately, I asked Carol Gilbert who owned a health food store in Manly, for casual work, when I was home visiting my grandparents from boarding school each weekend (where I had the majority of the boarding house on diet and exercise programs)

…who needed to bother with actual school work?!

Unfortunately, there were no shifts available at the time…

Throughout my years of study to become a Naturopath and Nutritionist, I waitressed, worked on reception for medical doctors, wrote nutrition and exercise programs for a local gym, packed shelves in health food stores, and then briefly spent time in private practice upon completion of my studies.

At 26 years old, I walked back into Carol Gilberts store, which had moved premises to where Manly Health Foods exists today, and said ‘do you remember me, and can I have that job now?’

The rest is history, so they say…I purchased Carols business a year later and ‘Manly Health Foods’ was born on January 10th 2005.

As far as my approach to health goes, I’d describe it as ‘no nonsense’, don’t restrict yourself unnecessarily, life is too short, there is too much to enjoy, do what counts, and do it well. Hard work, balance, authenticity, kindness.

As passionate as I am about being a Naturopath, I am equally as passionate about being a small business owner. I stem from entrepreneurial parents, and I have both observed, and participated in the ever-changing ‘Australian Health industry’ for 25 plus years.

I am very proud of what Manly Health Foods has become.

I am especially proud of my diverse staff, who bring elements and ideas to my business, beyond my thought process and capability.

I am proud of our customers, who challenge us daily with their questions, and inquisitive nature of ‘what to do, verses what not to do,’ to be at their optimum health, for their commitment, loyalty and trust.

I am proud of my suppliers, many of whom I have been in business with since day one. Continuing to research and provide products for the Australian Health market that are of the highest quality.

Lastly my fellow practitioners, of varying modalities, who tirelessly continue to educate and nurture.

Manly Health Foods would not exist without all of these people and parts.

I am truly grateful for this community provided to me every single day.
